Crispy Fried Chicken

Crispy Fried Chicken uses simple ingredients like egg, milk or buttermilk, flour, and spices. I coat the chicken in flour to create a crisp crust. After marinating it overnight, I deep-fry the chicken until golden brown. I serve it hot with barbecue sauce, garlic dip, or hot chili sauce.

Ingredients

  • Chicken - 1 Kg (Cut into desired pieces, with skin)
  • Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
  • Paprika Powder - 2 tsp
  • Rosemary - 1/4 tsp
  • Thyme - 1/4 tsp
  • Cayenne Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Butter Milk - 2 cups
  • Salt
  • Oil - To fry
  • Breadcrumbs or Crushed Oats
  • Egg - 2 (Beaten)

TO COAT :-

  • Self-raising Flour - 2 cups
  • Paprika Powder - 1 tsp
  • Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Ginger Powder - 1/4 tsp

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken with all spice powders, salt and keep aside.
  2. Add in the buttermilk, coat well and refrigerate for 6 hours to 8 hours. For better result, refrigerate overnight.
  3. Mix the spice powders mentioned under "To Coat" to the self raising flour and keep aside.
  4. Roll each chicken piece on the seasoned self raising flour, then shake off the excess flour. Keep aside for few minutes.
  5. Deep fry until done.
  6. If your using breadcrumbs/crushed oats, after rolling the chicken pieces on the seasoned flour, give the chicken an egg wash and dip it in the breadcrumbs or crushed oats, coat well. Keep aside and deep fry until golden brown.
